The constructors' championship may be a one-horse race, with
McLaren poised to wrap up back-to-back titles in Singapore next
time out, but behind the runaway leaders, there is now a
captivating battle unfolding. You may think, 'Well, what's the
point as to who finishes second?'. But for Mercedes, Red Bull, and
Ferrari, there is a considerable amount at stake. Whilst finishing
runner-up in the drivers' standings means relatively little, for
the constructors, there is prize money on the line. Last year, the
difference between second and fourth was $21million. A sum of money
not to be sniffed at, even if all three of the teams are not
strapped for cash, given the plethora of sponsors behind them. And
for every single employee within those teams, where their
organisation finishes is majorly significant as their contracts
carry bonus clauses. Naturally, the higher a team finishes, the
greater the bonus at the end of the year. So the race for that
second place is hugely important, and with seven grands prix and
three sprints remaining, it means every point counts. The three
teams are currently split by just 18 points, with Mercedes edging
ahead of Ferrari after George Russell and Kimi Antonelli finished
second and fourth in Sunday's Azerbaijan Grand Prix. Ferrari had an
underwhelming weekend, with Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc only
eighth and ninth, whilst Red Bull, which had started to fall adrift
of its rivals, is now back in the fight. Not only did Red Bull
score back-to-back victories in Italy and Azerbaijan by Max
Verstappen, but in the latter race, it finally had its second
driver, Yuki Tsunoda, score strong points with his sixth-place
finish. The 33 points collected by Red Bull were the most it has
picked up since last year's Chinese GP. A remarkable statistic. So
with that in mind, who do you think will claim what is clearly an
important second place in the constructors' championship? Vote in
