The Miami Grand Prix has made history with the appointment of 28-year-old Katharina Nowak as its new president, becoming the youngest top executive of any current Formula 1 event.
The announcement was confirmed by Tom Garfinkel, managing partner of South Florida’s Grand Prix.
Nowak succeeds Tyler Epp, who has overseen the rapid growth of the Miami Grand Prix since its debut on the F1 calendar in 2022.
That inaugural weekend saw a sell-out attendance of 242,955 spectators at the Hard Rock Stadium, and subsequent years only built on that success.
In 2023, the race drew the largest US TV audience in history with 3.1 million viewers on ABC, while 2025 attendance climbed to 275,000. May 2025 also saw the event’s contract with Formula 1 extended through 2041.
“I am excited to announce Katharina as our President,” said Garfinkel.
“She is one of the most talented young executives I’ve been around and I know she will continue to build on what has been established here – that we are committed to innovating fan experience and delivering a world-class event for drivers, teams and fans.
“I also want to thank Tyler for his leadership. The Grand Prix simply wouldn’t be what it has grown into today without him.”
Nowak Steps into Leadership Role
Nowak, who joined the Miami Dolphins and Hard Rock Stadium enterprise in 2019, previously served as vice president of business operations, overseeing corporate partnerships and the business side of the race.
“I am both humbled and excited to take on this new role as President,” said Nowak.
“I want to thank Steve Ross, Tom and Tyler for their vision, investment and leadership. In this new chapter, our goals remain unchanged – we will continue to deliver an exceptional event for our stakeholders, with elite on-track action and fan-first experience at the center of all we do.
“We have an incredible team committed to excellence, and I am eager to continue the work that has already begun.”

In the same announcement, John Murphy was promoted to managing director of South Florida Motorsports, overseeing all motorsport events at the Miami International Autodrome.
Murphy, who has been involved with the event since its inception, most recently served as vice president of sporting and racing operations.
With Nowak at the helm, the Miami Grand Prix is set to continue its trajectory as one of Formula 1’s marquee events, combining thrilling on-track action with unmatched fan experiences.
